As part of a multi-year study on the trees in its jurisdiction, a major metropolitan parks agency is using NFC tags. The IP68 industrial on-metal tags are mounted on spring-loaded standoffs which are fastened to mature growth trees. Each year after the tree has been inspected, the spring are loosened a few turns to accommodate future tree growth.
